About this course
Children aged 3 to 6 are sensory learners and conscious workers. This period is crucial for the formation of independence, coordination, concentration, and character.
The AMI Montessori 3–6 Orientation Course offers inspiring insights into Montessori education and introduces the theoretical and practical foundations for living and working with children aged 3–6.

The AMI Montessori 3–6 Orientation Course is open to anyone interested in Montessori education and in understanding the child between 3 and 6 years of age, including:
- Childcare professionals and early childhood educators

- Anyone who works or lives with young children

If you come as a team of five or more participants, we will organize translation in your language.
Course requirements
- 36 hours of live sessions via Zoom
- 9 hours of observation in a Montessori environment (ages 3–6)
- 3 written assignments (approx. 500 words each)
- Asynchronous work: readings, material making, and reflection tasks
- Minimum 90% attendance required
Trainer
István Szurkos
István Szurkos was born and raised in northeastern Hungary and now lives and works in the German-speaking part of Switzerland. He completed various university studies in early childhood and teaching, as well as AMI diplomas for ages 3–6 and 6–12.
He has worked in several Montessori children’s houses and schools and currently teaches in Bern while writing his dissertation on “Montessori and Gender.” István is president of the German-Swiss International Montessori Training Center and offers various workshops and lectures on Montessori education worldwide.
